The Doors too heavy for Owsley! Ya gotta love it man!

This book and Hammer Of The Gods were the first two rock bios I read.

The Doors releasing 6 studio albums and 1 live album in basically 4 years between 1967-1971 is very impressive. Especially considering they are all great albums (some greater than others obviously).

Alive is a relative term!

Ray was brilliant and an incredibly talented musician. He was vital to The Doors.

I heard The Doors for the first time when I was about 5, in 1965. My parents had The Doors first album and when it was played my sisters and I danced around the coffee table. Also around 4th grade I was out in our front yard playing ball with our dog and the ball flew into the next door neighbors front yard and as I went to get it I remember hearing "Light My Fire." playing in some weird van these hippies were partying in and I was like "Wow!" These teenagers are cool!" Ha!!

Ray’s impeccable memory is wild. What a guy and good friend he was.

unfortunately, with everything we now know, this rendition of morrison's biography is not exactly the best archive. The Remainder of the doors dubbed this book 'nothing here but a bunch of lies. But like Levar Burton taught us, you don't have to take my word for it. sincerely a voracious Doors collector.

I first heard the doors when their 1st album came out Dec. 1967 a friend gave it to me I listened to it And it immediately Became my favorite album. Crystal ship, was My favorite song But it changed every week. ❤❤❤❤ Thanks Robbie and John for your unique music. Finally I saw them on Mt Tamalpias summer 68.

Amazing that The Doors really were totally rediscovered by the masses around 1979/80. American Prayer started it all and then No One Gets Out of Here Alive fueled the fire. Really amazing resurrection when you think about it.

That poem Jim wrote about the murderer put his boots on at dawn is the creepiest thing he would ever write. I don't ever listen to that poem in that song and I don't even care about the explanation for it! The Doors, other than that are a super band.

The movie wasn't that good. It did tell a story though about 'The Doors'.

You gotta listen to this show in the dark with or without headphones but preferably with! Gotta also love Jim Ladd.

I like the documentary, but I'm more than 15 minutes into episode 2 and it's all a repeat of episode 1.

Great to hear a little from Eric Burden. I remember reading that he could get through to Jim on a bad night like nobody else could so I figured they must've been somewhat close but you don't hear from him much in the biographies.

The best american band

It's interesting that Ray almost always refers to Jim by his first and last name and not just Jim.

Initially, I had read this book on two different occasions and was fascinated by it. But come to find out years later, the book is loaded with falsities and was also an inspiration for that overblown Oliver Stone movie, which Ray Manzerek totally despised of. I’ll no longer recommend this book to anyone else.

Holzman, Bruce Botnik, and Bill Siddons all had Hall Of Fame careers in offstage facets of the old music business. Holzman I believe even had percentsge grabs in on one of the Time Warner media houses before he retired.

Ray also played on a Weird Al' song called Craigslist. A funny parody sound of Door's song's. It's brilliant. Worth a listen.
